When a plant is dried, digested in spirit, and the temperature is never allowed to go above the boiling point of water, the resulting essential oil is the living soul (sol) of the plant.

Sols prepared in this way are used in incense, perfumes, unguents, and medicines. Single sols can also be combined to make compound medicines.
